In order to further promote the students’ perceptual understanding of materials, as well as let them acquaint with Chinese enterprises and research institutes, colorful trips on campus and off campus are on the schedule of summer school. The investigation places are changed according to different school themes.

On campus:

The research labs affiliated to SMSE at SJTU, e.g. State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, Light Alloy Net Forming National Engineering Research Center, etc.

At the same time, campus tour including university history museum, scientific and technological achievements showroom and other typical places will be arranged.

Off campus:

Visits to research facilities and manufacturing companies in Shanghai, e.g. Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), Shanghai Volkswagen Co. Ltd., Medical 3D Printing Center, Shanghai Ninth People’ s Hospital, SJTU, etc.

City tour is the essential and most direct ways for students to experience culture of Shanghai city.

Some scenic spots in Shanghai are recommended for students to visit in free time, such as Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, the Bund, Town God’s Temple, etc.
